Pray for Nick: An Update from the Mission Field

by | Oct 8, 2019 | Articles, Missions, Resources

This is a story of a Business as Mission (BAM) practitioner on the field using business as a mechanism for planting the church in areas of the world you can’t go with traditional missionary methods. In order to protect the work being done there, we will not share the names of the workers or the specific locations.

Kairos is a Greek word referring to an opportune or critical moment in time. We have been praying that this fall season would be a Kairos moment for the people of our islands. We are believing God for an amazing harvest. Will you believe with us?

While hosting our summer teams, we began a new relationship with a young Muslim man (we’ll call him Nick) who asked if someone would take the time to go through the Bible with him. After completing this study of the Scriptures, Nick declared that he would decide which religion was right. He wasn’t willing to embrace a blind faith, he wanted to fully understand and believe for himself.

Each week, we would read together from Genesis and from the Book of John followed by an intense time of questions and answers. Our weekly meetings always ended with a challenge to tell others about what he had learned. He remained unsure about sharing his new discoveries, but each week he would declare that he believed he was getting closer to the truth.

At the beginning of our third meeting, Nick was emphatic that he had found the truth! He Googled “what does it mean to be a Christian?” and the website led him to John 14:6.

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

We discussed this verse and what it means to be saved, and Nick declared that he was ready to become a follower of Jesus! We prayed, and as we concluded, we talked about the real challenges he would face in telling others about his decision. Nick knows that there will be a testing of his faith, so we prayed for courage and boldness and that the Holy Spirit would empower him.

Please, join us in prayer for Nick and the beginning of our Kairos moment of harvest!
