We love to share stories of our missionary partners on the field in a business context. We believe business is a beautiful mechanism for the gospel to flow because business, at its core, is about meeting a need and serving people. As we intentionally add value to...

You Look Like Jesus
Her tag read Emily, MD but she looked like Jesus. At our first meeting she sat down right next to me, she looked me in the eyes and said start from the beginning. I’m pretty sure my mouth fell open because she was at the long list of physicians I had seen in 12 months...
When Anticipation Doesn’t Match Expectation
This is a story of a Business as Mission (BAM) practitioner on the field using business as a mechanism for planting the church in areas of the world where you can’t do that with traditional missionary methods. In order to protect the work being done we will not be...

Is It Time to Start a Revolution?
Nick was born into a well-to-do family in Torún, Poland. His father was a very successful business man, but he passed away unexpectedly when Nick was just 10 years old. So Nick was sent to live with his uncle, an Episcopalian Bishop, who saw to his education and...
An Exhausting Climb Up a Dark Stairwell: My One-Day Journey into the Heart of Cairo
I was still struggling to grasp my surroundings as we slipped off our shoes and walked into the expansive, open-air, marbled courtyard. There were dozens of students pacing the floors, kneeling in prayer, and sitting in study groups amongst the roman pillars...
A Different Kind of New Year’s Resolution
A New Year is always a time for reflection. Even though nothing literally “resets” on January 1, there is this sense of a clean slate, like someone has shaken the etch-a-sketch and given us a chance to create something fresh and new. In this spirit of optimism and...
Gold, Frankincense, and Work: Finding Your Job in the Christmas Story
I get sappy at Christmas. I’ve always wondered if it’s the warmth of the season, the schmaltzy music, and the cheesy Hallmark movies that make me sappy, or if I’m really this sappy all the time and just cover it up the other eleven months of the year. I believe it’s...
The Worst Christmas Ever
What is your worst Christmas memory? I have two worst Christmas memories. First Worst Christmas The first is one of my earliest childhood memories. I wanted a fire truck for Christmas. I had pointed it out to my parents in the window of the store where we lived in...
Yes, You Are Called Into Full-Time Ministry
“For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.” -Colossians 1:19-20 Many of us over the years experienced a similar event, whether in...

VIDEO: Thankfulness
You know every Monday morning at our housing company, CRF Affordable Housing, we have a conference call where all of our staff across the state of Indiana can call in and kind of give updates on things that are happening at each of the properties, share stories, and we’re able to share things with them as well. But, the way we have committed to start this call every Monday morning is that everyone shares a win; everyone shares something good that’s happened. Maybe at their property, within the context of their work, or even within their own family or something personal that’s happened.
VIDEO: Can I Enjoy My Work?
You know one of the things we talk about here at The Stone Table is how our stories, the story of our life, the story of our careers, really the story of everything as a follower of Jesus, is really part of a much greater story. We talk about our work and the great story and I’ve had some folks ask me, you know, “What does it look like to engage my work and my career and my vocation through that great story? Is it ok if I like my work? Is it ok if I pursue a career that excites me? Is it okay if I make money and profit from my work? Or, does embedding my story in a greater story mean that I can’t enjoy any of those things?”
VIDEO: To The Pastors
I just wanted to take a second and talk to all of my pastor friends out there today. You know, I spent 12 years in full time ministry and really, I think over this this last year and a half, have felt such a pull and a longing to encourage my pastor friends because I think this season of COVID and 2020, and now into 2021, has been one of the most difficult seasons to be a leader of any kind but especially a spiritual leader in our polarized world where everything seems to create conflict even within the context of our local churches.
